Frida the Van is a 1988 classic Volkswagen camper with character and proven reliability. Born and registered in Portugal, she has spent her life exploring Europe. In 2025, Frida underwent a full restoration. To 'validate' the work, she was road-tested on a 10,000+ km journey over three months—traveling from Portugal to Poland, down to Sicily, and back again—without a single mechanical issue.

The restoration included all essential mechanical work, including:

• Engine overhaul

• Complete front and rear brake system renewal (calipers, pads, discs, brake lines, shoes, etc.)

• New front stub axles, wheel bearings and tie rods

• Four new Continental tires, etc. 

In short, any component that was less than perfect was addressed. Beyond mechanical reliability, Frida was upgraded for comfortable living on the road, with the following improvements:

• Brand-new kitchen with full-size sink

• Two-burner gas stove

• Dual-zone refrigerator (fridge + freezer)

• New kitchen cabinetry

• Apple CarPlay head unit with high-quality sound system

• New seat cushions and mattress topper

• Fresh exterior paint For light and ventilation, the van features three new Dometic skylight/roof windows, all equipped with mosquito nets and blackout shades, as well as an openable window above the kitchen sink (without a screen).

The electrical system was fully upgraded with solar panels, leisure batteries, and an inverter, allowing you to comfortably power everyday household needs while off-grid. With the upper bunk folded away, there is full standing room inside the van. When the upper bunk is extended, two comfortable sleeping areas are available.

Frida is a well-sorted, dependable classic camper—equally suited for relaxed coastal trips or longer European road adventures.
